Decent Alcest

It's alright. The pretty parts are pretty. Honestly, the drumming is a massive letdown for me on this. I am certainly not into death metal or a fan of blastbeats for the sake of it, but jesus, if you're going to do blasts, actually do them. Don't do this lame halftime polka shit that has plagued the last few alcest albums.

Anywho, this, like the last few alcest records is music to play dnd to.

I love the drums on Kodama but they're not as good here.

Yeah kodama's playing was better, but the production was a bit weird. They had those super boomy kicks. They needed a bit more high end and punch and slightly less boom. I think they were still using a lot of the production style from shelter.

The closing melody to L'Enfant is one of the strongest melodies I have ever heard. What a way to bring a song to a close.

lol just came here to say that, the entire second half of the song is just magical. it's not just the melody, the drums and bass are so good during that part too. simple but effective. should've been the last song on the album tbh

The friggin basey, chunky riff that closes out L'Enfant is so so good. Maybe my favorite Alcest riff ever (close with the main riff of Oiseaux).

I am so happy I started listening to this band because of this release. Now I am excited to dive into the rest of the albums like a total mad man. And the closing track after L'enfant is just a nice glossy send away but we all know the real "closing" track is L'enfant

Yeah this is really nice, haven’t heard any Alcest since Shelter so this is a great jump back in point
