not necessarily wrong although i personally find meshuggah songs much easier to distinguish from ulcerate songs. but this isn't a question for me haha.

"When are we getting an actual review for this album"
You mean a review that confirms what the 4.5 and 5.0 people think about it? Present review is fine, some honest effort put in there

I’ll listen tomorrow.

This is probably gonna be a 3 or 3.5 for me when I listen to it

I respect the reviewers opinion but maybe, just maybe, it would make sense to actually LISTEN to the album before writing a review. Not just hearing it. Maybe the conclusions would end up the same anyway, but they would at least be more valid ;-)
I also thought it sounded too much the same in large parts the first times I listened to it, making me feel a little disappointed. Now I can't understand what I was thinking when I've finally digested it. I might love it even more than "Stare into Death" which I adore. Time will tell.

The fact of the matter is Ulcerate is one the greatest, most important bands of our generation and is never anything short of a splendid labyrinth of twisted complexity. Ulcerate does fit that 'thinking man's metal' tag. I don't remember if it was a guy from Pelican or other Post-Metal band who said it but that tag suits a lot of metal acts because of their changing, slow-mid paced tempo combined with intricate melodies and complex songwritings. I definitely lean towads that kind of pensive state inducing metal. Much like a well-aged Cabernet Sauvignon, every song is a delectable bouquet of refined sensation. Some may choose their music based on shallow songwriting tropes, but for us fortunate few with patience, the rewards are far greater.

would be happy to never see that copypasta again

idk, this sounds like an Ulcerate record to me? Similar overall vibe to the last couple of albums, which I enjoyed. I'm not really sure what sets this one apart as suddenly so terrible and the review doesn't help much with that understanding.

Well, with meshuggah, you could start randomly in the middle of any song and I'd be like "oh yeah, it's that song."
Drop me in the middle of a random ulcerate song and ima be like "hmmm." But if you listen to ulcerate constantly I'm sure you could pick out random sections and know what song it is but definitely more samey sounding throughout an ulcerate album than a meshuggah album
