Just went for a drive and spun the new album and man, i into ii is fun as hell 8 minutes only for iii to just make me limp. A lot of Jesse's vocals here just do not fit what the instruments are doing, Cure was way more suited for Jesse. JT sounds samey for most of the album but he at least fits into the heaviness when it calls for it. Lucid Threshold is probably my favorite off the new album.

Nude doesn't even like the new album, that's how you know it's shit.

I just imagine the rest of the band sitting down to write the new one and going "hey Cure was a nice change of pace but let's make this next one heavier and more complex" and Jesse just goes "do we have to though?"

Doesn't even feel that more complex than Cure to me... I listened to it again and thought "maybe the riffs are still cool, they're just not as technical as they where before" but nah. 99% of the riffs are super boring. At least Cure had some slight thall influence with the bends every now and again. Here, truly nothing stands out.

I watched some of the guitar playthroughs they've been posting. There was a time where I would have found stuff like this more interesting. That time has passed. Brilliant musicians, but over the last decade or so, these busy, complex bands of this genre have really disinterested me a hell of a lot.

"Gave the new one another spin and idk I'd put it above Cure and Neon"
I think upon relisten I'd do the same. Just for the simple fact that compared to Neon, this one is *miles* better produced.

“Thats how every Erra album post-Augment has been with the exception of the s/t one.”
Yes, but Drift. Otherwise agree.
Neon, Cure, and Silence all fighting for the bottom spot and honestly they’re all valid choices lol

Ok relistening to the new one. After echo, the album nosedives into boredom. None of the last 5 tracks do anything for me at all. I like Stelli, Gore, and Echo, and black cloud is 3.5 ghost atlas.

This album is fine, and the highlights are actually pretty great. I was completely checked out for like 90% of the new one.

yeah the JT/jesse combo doesn't have much impact anymore, if theres a track that's remotely catchy or has any other noteworthy element i'd still rather go and listen to something else lol

Yeah that’s my issue too. It’s not bad at all but it’s all been done better elsewhere I’d rather just go listen to that

I said this when Cure first came out as well. JT simply just doesn't really fit into these new songs a lot of the time.

But imho that’s more a songwriting flaw than a him problem. Like Nude said he fits the heavy parts just fine. They’ve just leaned so far into poppier territory with the Jesse cash show that the heavy either seems misplaced, trite or both
