Just because they’re mixing a lot of different elements doesn’t make it sound good. The whole “trap metalcore” thing was a thing in 2009 too and we all made fun of it then too because it’s a bastardization of two genres that simply do not mix well

And yet how can you be the decider of what doesn't work when it obviously hits for a shitton of people?
I literally went to school for music and there's a ton of music that a whole lot of people enjoy that I personally think is dogshit but I would never waste my time trying to explain to them that it ~doesn't sound good/work~

I mourn for your student loans
Bringing up your music degree in a conversation about something that you
then argue is subjective is low key hilarious. But again, ShapeOfJizzToCum, I do not care that you like this. Have at it. Just can’t believe that we are again retreading the “this has lots of plays so it’s good” argument.

I’d like for one person to pick out one refrain, one set of lyrics that actually have some substance because I read the lyrics for every song on here and it’s legit theater kid poetry with very little substance or personality. It’s like someone prompted ChatGPT to write an exaggerated emo album. I cannot feel any genuine human connection to anything they’re saying because they are saying almost nothing below the surface.
When you lyrically rely on callbacks to make an impact, it means you are stagnating as a writer.
Also why do some of these tracks have to be so long?

I just have second hand embarrassment for anyone that’s saying a pop metalcore album with a song about making someone squirt is groundbreaking

Lyrics are the absolute least important aspect of Djent as a whole. But this is more of a pop album than anything.

this is the first time i've involuntarily shouted "oof" at just how awkward and bad something sounded. if someone were to intentionally make an album just for the purpose of making me wretch i don't think this would be far off the result.
