Tbh I just disagree with Johnny's mention of Frontierer because I find them painfully mundane and one note/samey. Djent being used in a more melodic context with more emotion to the forefront interests me more than a band that is so abrasive they practically count as Harsh Noise without marketing themselves as such.

"band that is so abrasive they practically count as Harsh Noise"
this already sounds a million times more innovative than any band i have ever seen you stooge for on this site. go listen to actual harsh noise and sulk harder

@venin There are a lot of subtleties that differentiate Fronterier's work even if the exterior belies it. Oxidized especially has an increased melodic influence and is undoubtedly their tightest effort to date. Regardless of opinion there, however, it's certainly a divergence from the norm in this scene.
@Tundra if you write a compelling review from that stance that's well-edited, most people would respect it. There are also plenty of people willing to help if you would need help editing.

Fucks sake y'all, disagree with venin all you want but they're just talking, put the gloves down for a second. You can choose calm and positivity.

"maybe that's got it but these last two albums are rough. New Levels New Devils was okay but the last one was really mundane."
Renaissance is their best album hands down, song Bittersweet also emotive af

Ugh, I just don't get why people are all obsessed with Rilke's poetry. Like, sure, it's all fancy and stuff, but it's just not emotional enough for me. I mean, have you ever listened to the music of Periphery? That stuff hits you right in the gut.
Rilke's poetry is all about flowers and birds and stuff. Like, get real. Where's the pain? Where's the raw emotion? It's like he's too scared to really let loose and show his true feelings. I guess that's what happens when you're a fancy-pants writer from like, a million years ago.
But Periphery? Those guys know how to bring the pain. Their lyrics are full of heartbreak, anger, and all the real emotions that people go through. And the music? Don't even get me started. Those riffs and breakdowns hit harder than anything Rilke could come up with.
So yeah, I'm just gonna stick with my metal music and leave the fancy poetry to the old folks. Periphery knows how to rock my world, and that's all that really matters to me.

listening to periphery's music resonates with my heart so much
the melodies and emotions filling every song are elevating
I find convalescent solace in their art and nothing will change that for me, even johnny's review
BUT SERIOUSLY JOHNNY I HATE YOU SO MUCH WISH I COULD NEG

im just frustrated and baffled and cant even put into words how weird this 'more emotion=good' way of thinking is
harsh noise in incredibly emotional. its the writhing and palpable disintegration of oneself, its pure raw moutbreathing sensuality, its a slurry of words im pulling out of my disjointed asshole

It’s not just ‘mOaR emotes = good’… it’s almost as though there are different ways of getting said emotion across through music, it isn’t one size fits all (obvious stuff really).
Anyway, mankind just hadn’t learnt these techniques by the 60s, hence why we cannot possibly ascertain what the hell we should’ve been emotional about back then. I’m sure they had emotions(?) guess it just rendered all their recordings useless due to a lack of knowledge or understanding of how to broadcast them to the masses.

Humans gained emotions around the same time the world turned to color in the late 60s. No wonder those 60s artists sound so emotionless.

I've circled from this album back to Animals as Leaders so I can remember when technical = good, and when it doesn't.
