anticipating this to top the new deftones

the student has finally bested the master

Nah they're their own thing, the inclusion of the female vocals sets them apart from the whole cambrian explosion of deftones like bands

listened to the new one, really good kinda weird record. feels very much like this world is going to ruin you, not sonically but spiritually speaking in how it breaks off from this one

it would be super easy for them to go further down the deftones route and probably still make something pretty great but they are distinctly not doing that

The new one is on par with this. Will probably be a grower.

Not sure how I feel about the new one yet

It's a solid release

On one hand I'm pleasantly surprised that it's not as straightforward as the singles led me to believe, and has a bit more experimentation and genrebending going on

On the other hand... I think I actually prefer the more straightforward tracks in terms of pure enjoyment (last escape, endless sky)

I'll wait for the dust to settle with with future listens

New one is solid. Not as good as this but Green Street, Jerome Town, and Endless Sky are massive highlights.

Be Your Best is a unique one, almost has Portishead vibes. Really cool stuff
