I still like M&D more than this, but I've officially decided this is better than Atonement.

Everyone hates these ik but idc I'm doing it anyway

CtaWB > Here In After > M&D > Unholy Cult > Dawn of Possession > Acts of God > Atonement > Failures > Shadows > Harnessing Ruin > Kingdom

I'd say that's actually quite boring and predictable, then again I'm clearly biased because I wasn't complaining when it was Cult of Luna or Rolo Tomassi (was it ever Rolo? - I feel like it was for a bit).

This just makes me want to revisit their 90s/early 00s stuff - feels like if anything those classics MIGHT improve with age whereas this sounds like imitation. I do remember enjoying them and have revisited a few since, but they never hit me quite as hard as they did for some DM fans.

I don't see any reason to carry on with this one. If you're an absolute sucker for their sound and crave more, then sure, but I don't see it benefiting me. I wasn't that into Atonement either.

Perhaps the most consistent band on the planet.

Are you forgetting that Majesty is also a 5/5?

there's an extreme band from London that is as consistent while not adhering as tightly to an old formula. I'd consider them the kings of consistency, though they've got only 6 releases so far. but Immo is right up there among the living legends.

I personally would also put Dying Fetus in that camp. Theres only like one or two albums I dont jam by them, but they are also unreasonably consistent.

This sounds pretty on par for what they did for their past releases

I do actually dig that one quite a lot, went through a phase of jamming it loads. I just think if I want that sound I’d return to it rather than jam this or Atonement

That's fair

Although I've only listened to Atonement once, I would say that's more enjoyable than this
