the great thing about this album is that it does demand so much from the listener but the payoff is 100% worth it

Ok the first three songs blew me away. Folk Dear Hunter that could be a musical is basically my dream description for an album so I don’t see a world where I don’t love this. Will be spinning the whole thing tomorrow

So June and July are supposed to be so in love, but they'd rather live apart 3/4 of every year instead of making a single compromise for the other? July won't move to the country because she apparently doesn't have an email and/or can't just drive into the city when she needs to meet with a publisher about the book she hasn't even finished yet. She could even use the vehicle we already know June has. June's whole reason for not staying in the city boils down to "I don't wanna". Despite July being pretty clear that once she's published she's gonna peace out to the countryside anyway. So in love, but he still couldn't just suck it up and support her long enough for them to move out to the countryside together.
Everyone in this story sucks except the Alchemist, and this stories perfect couple are in a toxic relationship. Quite the "payoff" for a nearly 2 hour album of musical theater.

was looking to see if there were any commentary videos about this album and lo and behold there is a pretty decent one - had never seen this creator before but he does a good job digging into the themes of the album. not my favorite type of analysis video and is pretty all over the place at times but definitely worth a watch.

Was very skeptical about this but it's clicking with me somehow. A Boy Called June, Pt. 1 has golden era Blink-182 vibes hah!

I want to like this a lot more than I do (and I like it a lot). It starts really strong and then starts to blend together in the middle a bit, but then tracks 9-15 are a strong finish again. I think the theatrical nature and the vocals, but not sure it does enough musically to justify its lengths. I need to do a lyrics listen soon. That could change my mind quite a bit

was the 4.5 before or after the lyrics changed your mind?
also for all the jokes about this having 'no lasting value,' gotta say I'm relistening here in December and it's still spellbinding

only set aside the time to listen to this fully a couple times, but it's very good and definitely has room to grow. june I to june meets july III is a great little run of songs, probably the highlight of the album for me along with the closer
