The acoustic parts are all better on Morningrise (only bits on BWP that come close are the break on Bleak and the Dirge outro), Morningrise has only 1 not-as-good song (Nectar), but BWP has two (Funeral Portrait, Harvest), the acoustic break of Black Rose up to the bit when he whispers a title is Opeth's best moment and there was less (or no) excessive repetition

I think Morningrise has some of the best acoustic parts the band has ever done.

"The acoustic parts are all better on Morningrise (only bits on BWP that come close are the break on Bleak and the Dirge outro),"
Really? Not the ones in The Drapery Falls, or the entirety of Patterns in the Ivy?
"Morningrise has only 1 not-as-good song (Nectar), but BWP has two (Funeral Portrait, Harvest),"
I´ll give you The Funeral Portrait, but Harvest is a work of fucking genius, man.
"the acoustic break of Black Rose up to the bit when he whispers a title is Opeth's best moment"
no
"and there was less (or no) excessive repetition"
The only time the repetition of BWP could be considered "excessive" is in Dirge For November. All other times, it´s just good and effective songwriting.

BWP t/t is up there for me

Man i think its hard for Mikael to produce anything that isn't somehow interesting. Some songs may drag or generally be worse than others, but pretty much every song theyve produced has atleast one specific detail thats always noticable and interesting.

I'll agree to disagree because I see where you're coming from, but I thought that the intro of BWP went on too long, and the Bleak verses (a little bit, they still rule), and the Drapery and Patterns acoustics aren't up to Advent, TBYF and Night and the Silent Water standards for me

whoa whoa whoa funeral portrait is top 3 BWP wtf, that outro man so epic

I feel kinda stupid criticizing BWP because I still love it to death, and Funeral Portrait is my 2nd
least fave non-Heritage Opeth song (By the Pain is worst)

Huh?? I mean that I like Funeral Portrait the least of all the Opeth songs I know that aren't on Heritage, apart from By the Pain I See in Others.
Tbh, most of Heritage beats them anyway
