It has been a pasta in this thread three years ago 😂 Injust stumbled upon it, looking for what I wrote back then. A little nugget of gold

I thought it was okay until a week ago, then I thought it was pretty good with bad production. But now I think it might be amazing with bad production 🤔

The mix is a little unique for sure but I don't really think I would qualify it as "bad". Definitely doesn't hinder my enjoyment of the album

This album has some great "poppy" metal songs but man the sequencing is weird. Kinda kills it a bit for me.

I'd say, this album is a great attempt at being more accessible, mainstream, popular etc without sacrificing too much of the music.

My main gripes would be that it's shorter and there's thus, less material, less to enjoy, and that the band seems to have decided to release an album every four years.

I'm fine with an Enfant Sauvage or From Mars to Sirius every four years, but Magma or Fortitude are the kind of albums that you want every two years, three years maximum.

It's been hard for me to put my finger on why I like M and F less than the previous three, so it's equally hard to explain why I really hope for a return to the quality of those three when there's plenty of argument to be made that there's not really anything wrong with either of these two.

But here I am, doing it.

I knew halfway through "L'enfant Savage" T/T that it was special. I want that again.

I disliked l'enfant sauvage a lot for several years before it suddenly clicked and became my favorite.

"It's been hard for me to put my finger on why I like M and F less than the previous three"

If I may offer some insight, it's probably the lack of aggression
