New Nile is great.
This album is way too short. I blow through the first two tracks and I just want to listen to those again... last track is a little too long imo but I'm sure I just need to listen to it another 5 times or so

Yeah it's weird that a 4 track/36 min album almost feels bloated, I would've preferred a more concise version of the finale coupled with another (much shorter) offering.

25-35 min albums are the current standard. personally I prefer metal albums sub 35 minutes

What do you mean by 'current standard'? - I assume you're only talking about DM, which even so seems like an exaggeration to me. Runtimes are all over the place - which is as it should be. I wasn't aware of this 'standard' length.
In other words, show your workings.

no im talking generally in music. albums are getting shorter and artists are trying to make their offerings shorter and more frequent

I find that albums are generally above the 40 minute mark, though. 35 seems like an EP and change.

there's no standard since CD-focused length isn't a thing anymore
"35 seems like an EP"

I haven't found that to be the case personally. I imagine that with your average millennials' dwindling attention span, the shorter length would be optimal in some circles, but not across the board. Completely depends on the release in question, as always.

yes with the increasing irrelevance of physical music the album format is slowly dying but will never die especially not in metal. but most movers in music are already starting to just release mini-albums, eps, singles - then if anything compiling the singles as an "album release" mostly to double dip or out of contractual obligation.
I suppose it's more of a deconstruction of the album format than a disintegration of it.

These guys ain't trying to make that Spotify money with the 4 song tracklist, I can appreciate that

I agree with Gyromania, gave it a few listens and i can't find why people are so hyped about this album/band.Decade defining? Why not Horrendous or Artificial Brain?

Well those bands got plenty of hype too, I say why not Venenum?

Seems that Venenum doesn't have quite enough attention yet :/

They need their second album to be really good to cement them in there. Seems like that's what was required for these guys to get the spotlight
