The only thing about Charlatan is how it is squeezed into the album. Other than that is a great track for me.

Yeah that's a bit weird, agreed. Like Slither on Heritage for instance. But I came to love that track (Slither) because it shakes things up, and I could see Charlatan do the same here.
L O V E Mike's vox in Kontinuerlig Drift whoa! Especially the first few verses! And that sunny feel of the louder section that enters at 1:45 or so. Amazing track.

And Axe too in the woodwinds-led section at 3:00. One of their best post-Heritage tracks for sure.
An that warm, fuzzy guitar tone on Allting Tar Slut is delicious. Think this is where they wanted to go with Sorceress, but what they didn't quite pull off.

Trif dude I'm one of those Opeth fans that stops at Watershed and have been giving these boys a hard time ever since
But when you hear a good tune, you hear a good tune

Universal Truth just grew on me massively during my 4th listen. Might be top 3 on the album.

Charlatan is a great track but only resides in the middle of the pack for me, which is less of a knock on the song as it is praise for just how strong of an album this is.

Next of Kin, Charlatan and The Garroter are stand out tracks for me. The rest are pretty interesting, but for now nothing stands out. Last two songs are a bit forgettable tbh. Love the orchestrations, though, I insist on that. Love how the keys have come in front, and the bass is always present. Expected more from Axe, sincerely.

Charlatan is better than Lovelorn Crime is better than The Garroter.

Lovelorn crime is nice, somewhere I read that the solo is Opeth's Comfortably Numb, and I liked all of it, I just didn't find it stunning

Next of Kin and Lovelorn Crime are top tier Opeth tracks, seriously.

Things I did not expect from an Opeth album: A djent song, signing about 'fascist lies', and liberally used vocal samples.

Panda dog never disappoints
Also, agreed with Doof. If somebody described a song like that to me, it would be an insta-skip.

I’m having trouble making it halfway through this. It’s quite bad
