Yeah, it’s weird that people keep calling it their best since Vol. 3 as if that’s some sort of achievement. Like, this is a good album either way, but saying it’s better than The Grey Chapter and AHIG isn’t really saying much.

I guess it's because it's been 15 years since they released something of acceptable standard?

As someone who never listen to Slipknot as a kid I can advise that early slipknot is just as mediocre as this just came at the right time

to build on that, yeah, releasing a commercially and critically successful nu-metal record 20-some years into the band's career...I'd say it's an accomplishment

The anti-nostalgia authority has spoken. How can anyone disagree?

The first half of this destroys. Might be their best since the debut.

I was ready to slap a 4 on this but most of the 2nd half is pretty weak.

that reverby guitar line behind the "you've killed the saint in me" part in Unsainted is so good. actually a lot of those pop up throughout this album, kinda has a Cure-esque sound

I think this stands next to Vol 3 and Iowa, but to each his own. I dig Unsainted, and I like them trying new things. I dig the chorus, but some just want more Iowa. I'm glad we got an album that can please any sort of Slipknot fan.

"I've heard worse things this year. Laura Stevenson and Copeland come to mind."

dammit, you would pick two other well-received records instead of something truly cringey. In a year with Skillet, Papa Roach, and Buck Cherry releases, you go after sweet innocent Laura. SAD!
