Yeah! I just bought and beat the original trilogy over the past few months. Very simple, yet fun and memorable game. More balanced toward story over gameplay. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys ~debating things~

“doesn't really make sense to judge an artist by the copycats they create though“

" Wait for real? Or are you using that as an example? "

ok now this guy is just delussional, that shit's been known for years, even if I don't agree he should be totally cancelled for that incident

I meant as a bonus to also really enjoying Mac's music.

I mean I'm not denying that he's an odd dude, but I don't just go searching for dirt on artists I enjoy. Just because people like Jesse Lacey, Ryan Adams, Morissey, Mac etc... do things doesn't mean I can't enjoy the art they create...

I mean you can listen to the dude, I listen to Brand New every now and again still. But I'm not gonna start listening to the dude after knowing shit like that lol

Yeah I feel you minushuman, I don't judge people who enjoy a band and then continue enjoying them after allegations come out, cause you can separate art from the person and all that, but I'm not gonna choose to start listening to them when I could listen to any other number of artists out there

Luckily none of the bands/artists I listen to have been hit with serious allegations that I know of, I'm sure it'll happen one day though and will suck

And okay I’ll concede being vegan is counter-cultural and therefore ponk as fock (although most vegans I know are the polar opposite of being punk, which is where my take stems from).

But I still feel this album dances around heavier themes and topics as compared to The Dream is Over. And, no, they don’t have to be hardcore to be worth listening to, but they definitely performed those songs with more passion, more visceral emotion. I get the feeling that, despite enhanced sound quality, they are coasting, both musically and lyrically.

Couldn't agree less with that tbh, I think TDIO is the better album in terms of songwriting but this is probably more viscerally emotional. I mean, how can you listen to Full Blown Meltdown and think otherwise

And Scorpion Hill and Bare Hands

Scorpion Hill is probably my favorite track on here. Still, I'd make the case for the debut being the best. I adore Dark Days.

I really like Mabu even though it lacks the aggression that makes their later work so great

The lyrics on TDiO are more pointed, more specific.

Idk I feel like nothing hits harder than "if I can't support the two of us, how can I support a third?" or this whole segment on Full Blown Meltdown:

"How long will self destruction be alluring?

It's good for business and baby business is booming

Isn't that a trip?

I'll be sure to write it down

When I hit rock bottom

For all the people who love to fetishize problems

And to tell the truth

I fetishize them too

It's pretty messed up, isn't it?

I agree with ColeT. This album has harder lyrics to swallow. It's more emotional.

To be fair, FBM is easily my favorite track on this record. But I’m sticking with what I said.

“In Pine Point, '86
My older brother died when we were kids
His best friend was wasted at the wheel“

“Yesterday, I went back to my apartment
To see how you've been holding up (whoa, oh, oh)
You hadn't been eating, I thought you were sleeping, but
You're not waking up“

“The lake needs to eat just like all living things
And it's hungriest in the spring“

Incredibly tragic and specific events that lead to his innocence (or “The Dream”) being destroyed. Lyrics that make you sit back and say “fuck.”

Weird how he says he was a kid in 86 though he wasn't even born
