Over half the songs start with a quiet synth parts which try to be built by uninspired melodies in the verses. Some of the choruses are explosive enough but it’s not enough to save the copy-paste song-writing.

personally, have not revisited this at all since 1st listen and don't plan to, either. What does interest me, tho, is how can people that don't care about ariana's life and history can dig this in any way, shape or form. Also any band where the entire group writes their songs has just as many songwriters, what is the deal with the self righteousness people get out of vocally and persistently hating mainstream pop? There must be some deep seated fomo or need to be a part of some purist trend or something for you guys to be so deeply upset about something so trivial and non-controvertial

Sometimes people perseverate so much on what they dislike that they almost remove their ability to understand why someone else could feel differently and not view their enjoyment through some ultra jaded , cynical lens. And at this point disagreement is usually personalized ... idk just hella insecurity or something.
