That performance is really great and energetic. Still not a fan of the song though. Seems very monotonous and undynamic, and they have done more exciting stuff that's both as well ... But it did remind me to watch more DEG live stuff. Which I always mean to, but there's so much else to check . . .

Ye it's kinda undynamic minus that guitar lead in the verse but I've always been a believer not so good songs can have amazing performances if the production is right and the energy is there, which is the case here.
The best thing to do for their lives is go one at a time and ask someone where to start. If you want help, let me know can I can knock up a quick guide. If you got other albums or artist to check I get it but I think diving into at least 2 or 3 lives is worth it.

I think I'll first tackle the remaining Budokan performances of my faves and then maybe the Mode shows of whatever I'm in the mood for after that. Thanks though! I appreciate it.

The Budokan shows are phenomenal. The DSS one might be the overall best because of its wide scope in setlist. Between the two nights, they played songs from the band’s entire history from Missa up to the latest release at the time which was the Sustain the untruth single.

The Budokan shows are so good.
Damn, okay, I will def listen to this asap. Macabre is a hard listen for me. I love aspects of the record, but there's a lot on that album that just has me skipping and cherry picking the tracklist. I have the same problem with Kisou but that album's sound has way more of an identity, if that makes sense. Still has a lot problem with flow, but I don't think Diru got a better grasp on how to pace their records until Vulgar. Withering took that and perfected it. I will always defend Marrow since it was that bridge between old Diru and Melo Death Metal Diru.

Marrow is just so inconsistent it’s unbelievable.
Has a couple of my fave Diru songs but most of it is among their worst material.
This is probably their weakest album though: half of the songs are meh, 1 is great, 1 is horrible and the rest are decent.

What's your fav track off of this?

Ik you arent asking me, but Utafumi or Aka are the strongest on this for me, only tracks i come back to consistently

I love this; I leave for a couple days and come back to read comments and critiques that are constructive and kindly. This is why I signed up for Sput.
On a related tangent, I personally think Macabre and Kisou are DEG’s weakest albums, and that’s because of the production, flow, etc., but TIW is a clooose second to those two.

Opener is the only song I really like on here, has great energy.
Devote My life is pretty cool too, as is Aka.
Ranunculus is such a deflating closer though, weird cos Diru have always had great closers tbh.
|
| |
The opener for this slaps hard agree, just a continual punch in the face. I love the opening pair for being such a vicious and sudden start and is lyrically fitting. After that though ohhhhh boi things go downhill very fast.

Generally speaking, the second half is better than the first, and yeah, Ranunculus feels anti-climactic as a closer.

Kyo's weird rapping in Values of Madness is a career low-light for them, really hard to listen to.

If this discourse keeps up, it’s gonna put me very close to listening through their discography again, which would be delightful, now that I think about it.
Keep it up, and carry on!
