so I like, picked up this promo the other day from a band called "Slugdge." apparently they like slugs and stuff? idk, but the music's alright. I don't know how this compares to their other stuff, or really how they arrived at this point in their evolution...anyway, here's what I think of this, devoid of any real context other than comparing it to other stuff this year.

For me this is very safe...I can't think of another term...'Millenial metal'. As safe as Coldplay for me - there, I said it.

It sounded better than 'rehash metal'
But 'Rehash Metal' it is!
I'd use 'Slug Gimmick Metal' but I get the feeling that is a 'one band' genre - I could be wrong on that, maybe Baroness will release 'the slug opus' when they run out of colours :/

Metal can be fun but I wouldn't want the 'fun factor' to be the defining identity of a metal album - or pretty much any album in any genre tbh

Don't mistake the allegorical slug theme with a funny thing. It has some interesting depth in social analysis. It's fun cause I have a great time listening to it, but I can get also pretty overwhelmed once I bow to the All Mighty Slug Master Gastropod m/ (:
