ngl, I've never been as harsh on it as some, but I'm relistening to Cope right now and it's prob my fave of the MO I've heard. Definitely not as deep or ambitious as this or Simple Math, but it's so much more engaging to listen to imo. Gonna check their first two soon, hopeful for even better.

album got kind of repetitive for me after multiple listens, and (i hate to say this), sort of tryhard. mean everything to nothing is still the high point for me, and a very high point at that. simple math does this sort of epic sweeping rock better as well imo. some good choons here tho

The River is decent but Everything to Nothing, Tony the Tiger and My Friend Marcus are some of the most boring songs in their discography and all pretty much fail from a songwriting perspective

chuck I Was a Lid, It's Ok With Me, Do You Really Like Being Alone? on there instead and goddamn, a straight 5

I absolutely agree there, could compete with Colly Strings for their best closer imho

Row - i was clearly taking the piss, 'behaving like a gent', just more wind up from the Doofmeister :/

I'm here to balance the force a bit, I just don't know if I'm a Jedi or the dark side, maybe it switches. I'm not convinced Sowing could be considered a force for purely good in this music galaxy

In other news, this album is a trap

I've listened to about 250 new 2017 albums this year so there's no messing about, the charity 3.5's are gone. You have to earn that 3.5 now and dude's like these are the casualties.

Devoid of anything new.
Nothing Fresh.
Nothing invigorating.
No danger.
No spark
No life
No confrontation
No questions raised
No depth
No life
No reason to exist

A sput 4.2 obvs.

Eucalyptus is a totally different deal to this really, if you like early AnCo you'll like it basically. I don't think anyone's ever listened to that band for incredible groundbreaking acoustic guitar work, it's more about the details around the basic frame.

Tracks 2 and 3 sound almost identical, and most of the rest is similarly homogeneous. Can't believe you could say this all sounds the same when you have that as a 4 lol. I enjoy early anco too, I just hoped avey wasn't a one trick pony

albums have different purposes, what you call homogeneity there is intentional. surprised that needs to be explained

Yeah this is traditionally song-based so lives and dies by that sword

So it's intentionally bland? Got it.
