Perfect Places is the only obvious attempt at writing a hit on this album and it's just a bit too transparent.

What's wrong with the lyrics?

Closes the album properly.

The lyrics verify the theory that says that it is impossible to write an interesting apology of partying all night long as you are young wild and free.

Or you know after a whole album about a break-up she is realizing that nothing is perfect and that partying only separates you from reality temporarily

i give her a 4.5 just for that mind-altering insight

The fact that it's coherent with the album's concept doesn't make the lyrics nor the track good all of a sudden. It's one of the few songs here and there that I despise in her new effort.

The lyrics are pretty pedestrian

It might not be mind-altering on a macro scale, but it seems like truthful knowledge earned through her experience. I don't mind that the record is party-focused, 'cause honestly, that's what a whole bunch of people in their early twenties are caught up in. It's been done a lot, but Lorde has both a sincere and analytical approach toward the whole thing. She's in a process of maturing; that's interesting.

when the most of the rest of this is airy with no weight to it, or just plain mediocre - i'll take the 'generic' pick.
