lol.

I wouldn't call Freestyle 4 "atrocious" either. It's not his best work, true. But let's not go overboard.

I Love Kanye is clearly the worst thing on this...

Listening to "I Love Kanye" feels like those times where you say a word enough times, it eventually stops sounding like a word.

If they did, this album would have an even lower average.

yeah I could do without freestyle 4 but the kanye albums everyone apparently loves so much ("old kanye" hehu) came with like five tracks like "i love kanye" so I don't see that as much of a knock on this album specifically

If I ignored the bad and only paid attention to what's good...well what is good is kind of awesome. Freestyle 4 and I love Kanye being side by side on the album does neither song any favors.

I see that you mean but considering that this the same guy that gave us songs like "Roses", "Hey Mama" and "Homecoming", It's a little disappointing that most of the songs here are filled with cringeworthy lyrics and incredibly unfunny punchlines.

And sure the production on the album could have helped masquerade the terrible lyrics if most of the tracks didn't sound like half-baked song ideas.

He's rapping over his beats isn't he? Should we be rating this based on his production and completely discard his bars? A lot of the reason I listen to College Dropout and Late Registration is because I really enjoy those lyrics, so I'm not gonna like TLOP just as much as those two is spite of the lyrics on it.

theyre completely different albums and styles though, this and yeezus are production-heavy, much more so than those ones (not defending this per se, just saying you might be looking at it the wrong way)

Yeah this and Yeezus are more production heavy, but that doesn't make it okay for the lyrics to be shit for 75% of the album, even when he's purposely simplifying his flows to put more focus on the production.

I'm with you Alex - a big part of what I loved about earlier Kanye was the fact he was the full package of excellent production and lyricism. His production remains top notch but he has become so lyrically lazy, or just says things he knows will piss everyone off.
