The last two tracks are quite great, they do over shadow the first few tracks at the very beginning.

Listened to this through today and it was my first DGD experience. Good as hell.

@ATTA Stylistically the tracks are quite different, so both good in their own right. I do agree though that the last two tracks outshine the rest of the album. Next album DGD should just buckle down and take on DBM1, think Variation, meets Lost, meets beginning and ending of Shark Dad all in a cohesive (typical DGD shenanigan free) package.

@mazalthan Yes that what I'm thinking will ,be the sound in their next album, which will be in 2017 for sure, and that will also be their 10th year anniversary of Downtown Battle Mountain.

Was just a matter of time before this dropped below a 4. Good album though.

Jonathan Mess....he sounded more unique on the other albums? On this I find his vocals monotonous and almost completely unnecessary. Or maybe his style of post-hardcore screaming reminds me of my cringe-filled days of praising the genre and it's misguided juvenile anger. Kinda like metalcore. Do you REALLY need to be screaming, Jonathan? Tillian seems pretty happy over there, why can't you be

I disagree. I think this and Acceptance Speech are his strongest performances yet. He sounded okay on their other releases but I feel he's really come into his own on these last two albums.

@ATTA True, true. They totally have the potential to do it, given some of the songs on this album. I'm pretty sure that would be their last record on the new(er) Rise contract as well. It would be a pretty poetic return to form if they pulled it off.

@chinesewhispers Honestly... Something pretty damn close to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30vDStNRD8s

OK I've been spinning this constantly and I'm not really minding his vocals as much anymore. Maybe the style just stood out because I've been out of the umbrella of genres for so long.

Actually, this whole thing keeps getting better every listen. Albums like this are the gold that I visit Sputnik to find in the first place.

Endlessly catchy. I know some people are hating on Tillian for this exact reason, but the man is the GOD of melody and hooks, and it's making this whole thing so much more listenable to me as a result.

Also, if anyone here hasn't: listen to this thing with headphones. In fact, do what I did: smoke two bowls of BC bud and put on a great set of headphones. I listened my first few times quiety, but only when I listened LOUD with great headphones did a lot of little details pop out of the woodwork. Tones, twiddly-dees and doodly-doos and distortions that *never* came out of my car speakers were suddenly evident. Hidden melodies. Loving the production on this one a lot.
