CoE is rough in the vox. I can only handle a few songs from it. This is the only album of theirs I really mess with

Kinda strange seeing this album have so many more Spotify plays than so many other albums of the same style that easily seemed to be more relevant and popular upon release. Ascendancy, Fall of Ideals, End of Heartache.... wouldn't expect a deep cut from here like Clairvoyant Disease to trump nearly every track from all those albums in plays.
Guess that's what having such a strong brand can do.

This is definitely better than anything Trivium has ever put out, but comparing this to Heartache and TFOI is going a little too far.

this is the most unique at the very least. the others are watered down slaughter of the soul tracks with core vox

@Malice They're all very similar in that they're commercially-viable not very core metalcore albums that take a lot of influence from classic metal bands.
Point I was trying to make is while all those bands have made their careers playing that style and released the defining albums of that period/sound... Waking the Fallen was not really that: basically a one off affair that contains some of A7X's most obscure material, yet it has kinda surpassed all of them in retrospect off the strong brand the band has built. Arcade actually describes it pretty well in this review, referring to the album as a "sleeper hit".
I do agree it is prob the best album any of those four bands ever made, not even just out of the four I mentioned.

I didn't think these guys really started getting 'big' until CoE and after but I could be misremembering
I do remember seeing them at Warped Tour back around the time when this album was released

coe is their best selling album, and bat cuntry was a hit on radio so that should speak for itself

City, S/T, Nightmare, and HTTK all sold a fuck ton of records... and with the way things are going in the industry it's probably unlikely a metal band ever goes on a commercial run like that ever again
