'Interesting' vs An Actual Honest to God Band That Did Things

The band wins for me, any dopes can spunk about in a studio but not everyone can straddle the planet and play their silly subversive jokes on that scale. Faith No More wrote 'hits' that didn't suck, lounge vox circus music is a doddle in comparison.

the album isn't that good, I have listened to this album since it was released, Faith No More were an actual band - these are the facts

making farting noises over surf rock or sampling someone taking a dump with carnival music in the background isn't that revolutionary or musically satisfying and may lead to something awful happening (also known as the 'syndrome of the Down' factor)

some of us lived this shit, by all means enjoy it though

I just find the argument that this is more 'complex' than Faith No More ridiculous - it genre switches a lot, but the flow and layering on Faith No More material is just more natural and less gimmicky. This stuff is a hundred times easier to write than a Faith No More album that was supposed to bother the charts, produce hit singles and pay the mortgage.

Pink Cigarette is probably the best song - it would have been the 10th best song on King for a Day ye gods

This is the ultimate 'genre experiment' album and I'll admit that tends to flick my balls (not always but usually).

You can almost hear the blurb 'join Patton and gang on a madcap and hilarious whirlwind tour as we stop in for a few bars of every major pop genre of the 20th century' ugh
