Now, now... I don't know were to post these excellent news, SW tweeted that his new solo album will be out in early 2015 and he uses the same line up! Being through a new prog phase right now... GOD!

Aww I thought you came here saying there would be a PT album next year from the looks of your post. Not another cover album please, SW

@Choccy: I don't want to start another Raven debate right now, because I know you probably already
know my views on the album. However, I would say that comparison between The Raven and the 70s prog
scene is understandable, yet I think the album is much more of a re-definition of prog. For me it's
all about taking the old influences into a more modern sound. And it's done brilliantly imo.
Or actually, maybe you were talking about the Cover Version compilation he released this year, in
which case then sorry :p

Yeah, a new PT would be a dream like reality. Alas! However, I immediately fell in love with The Raven, which got me into both PT and 70's prog rock. Anyway, I don't understand why every album has to be innovative. Even under the tag of progressive. Prog is a genre that has the element of evolution but sometimes you can just enjoy some of its aspects as seen by newer artists.

Yeah, I'm well aware both you guys love Raven. I only really liked Luminol in the end, but I'll listen to whatever he puts out, regardless. As long as it's not another ABBA cover
I'm pretty dedicated to modern prog than the old prog and I have nothing wrong with winding the clock back, but I don't know. I crave sonic variation these days, which is why I'm pretty grateful for that Tigran Hamasyan album you made me be aware of. Good stuff

Wow, I didn't know about him. I shall try him!

@Choccy: Well Cover Version was actually pretty good, it had some nice covers and some good original
songs.
And you're welcome for the Tigran rec, by the way, have you checked out his album Arratha Rebirth? I
think you'll really dig the heavier/proggier influences on some of the songs
@Mythodea: Yeah, if you like modern jazz, prog and world music (Armenian in this case), I think you
could really dig his stuff. He's done some very interesting and innovative music, adding his own fresh
touch to modern jazz
