healthy eating and plenty of exercise

Lol dude they were teenagers in the original show so they're prob in their mid late 80s now or something. So it's pretty good odds for them bein alive.

I thought The Legend of Korra took place 100 years after Avatar

lol no it's something like 73 after the time skip
hence all of them old people being alive
if it were 100 years, aang would be 112 if he were alive (i mean 212 technically), making it weird that Tenzin is 50

I had no idea Todd Haberkorn was in this show! That just made this season five times better! :D

Honestly, that was a pretty annoying episode. The little king kid is an irritating chode and there's a difference between Toph being
Toph and Toph just being a straight up bitch. That's what Toph was being, but I LOVED how it ended. Anyone else think that's a
nuke Varrick is making?
|
| |
I didn't mind that episode that much but it was more centered towards the comedy which is slightly annoying.
|
| |
It wasn't funny though lol. I know it will improve because 3 had a bit of a shaky start too but man, toph really annoyed me. I
know she has all that tough it out shit but she has SOME sympathy. Korra went through a traumatic experience and needs
guidance atm, not someone to just yell at her and throw her around like a rag doll.

"Korra went through a traumatic experience and needs

Katara tried that already and it only sort of worked. It's Toph's turn to be tough on Korra.

I know toph will prob help her in the long run, but it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way how toph didn't even give her any
wisdom or anything. I know she's toph and I'd expect some playful insults but I sensed no balance between the younger toph
and maturity.
|
| |
Well she was never really the wise one in the show so I expected her to be a bit of a jerk. It's not like she's going to be Iroh or anything like that.
|
| |
Ehh idk just didn't care for the whole thing but I'm confident it'll get better. How about that ending though right?

My thoughts:
-didn't like the portrayal of Toph, though that can change. It leaned dangerously close to fanservice in how both the visuals and her voice actor mimicked TLA Toph. Even if her core personality is the same, 70 years of experience should make that manifest somewhat differently. I'm hoping that her being a recluse is related with her never really growing up/ reverting (she seemed a normal adult in flashbacks)
-Toph beating up Korra was fine to me. It was pretty astute of Toph to note that Korra is probably using her trauma as an excuse not to fight anymore. People do this all the time, and no one is going to call out that kind of behavior because it's seen as insensitive. Luckily Toph doesn't give a fuck and tells Korra how it is.
-I like the idea of mercury remnants inside Korra's bloodstream. It's an externalization of her scars from her fight with Zaheer.
-I really liked how they treated Su's character. Not much screentime but it was a nice, understated bit of characterization that she didn't try to help the Earth Kingdom and instead stay with her family (a critique of isolationism, perhaps?), leaving Kuvira with that responsibility. And her conflicts with her family and Kuvira feel really mature, versus Lin and Tenzin whose internal conflicts, while well-written, were very much coming of age and ill-suited for 50 year olds.
-I hate Wu too. From the start he was obviously a Kuzco character, so he's intended to be punchable, but that doesn't actually make his irritating behavior any better. His development was contrived but whatever, get on with it and stop being such a twat.
-Mako/Bolin fight was interesting. Bolin is such a tard, Opal should dump his ass.
-Yes that ending has me intrigued. Fucking Varrick

"70 years of experience should make that manifest somewhat differently."
This is precisely what I'm talking about. Yea she's always been a joker and made fun of her friends and made for some great comedy. I loved her character in TLA, but now I would have expected her to act a bit differently. She doesn't come across to me as someone who's found enlightenment either.
Also Varrick is the fuckin man no matter what. He's hilarious and the idea of him developing a nuke(?) for her is awesome. Now they're touching on possible nuclear warfare I like it.
