Really i've never played mass effect but most people i know think the 1st is bad and the 2nd and 3rd are really good.
1st is much more spacey and electronic, while 2nd and 3rd are pretty much hollywood-blockbuster-orchestra. 2nd has a lot of great hollywood tracks on in though, while the third is just a bunch of bland drivel with a few good tunes here and there. I actually liked the 1st one the most.
