good musical ideas on the entire record. De-Loused is actually focused and has good songwriting

people are to stuck up on the ambient parts. the actual musical moments on frances completely destroy the music moments on De-Loused. frances just gives you some down time to realize what the hell just happened

I find the ambient parts to be really cinematic and musically enjoyable. You could call anything of ambient nature "wankery"

Yeah I'm talking mostly about the second half of the album, which is mostly masturbation and
worthless, improvised crap not dissimilar to one of Omar Rodriguez's solo albums

On De-Loused they were actually smart enough to focus on good ideas and cut out all the extraneous,
self indulgent bullshit, which is why I prefer that record and don't listen to bands like Dream
Theater

yeah it's all good. I joined the site as a Volta fanboy, though I don't listen to them nearly as much these days.

I just read qwe's review of this again and he does a pretty good job of articulating why this album sucks
