I'm not surprised since it is their least accessible (to new fans at least) and also least known release of the Layne-era. I've never met anyone who mentions it.

Frogs and Sludge Factory are among their best songs. Man I just love the whole haunting, doom laden, dark, despairing atmosphere of the album in general.

Layne was having a really hard time during the recording, so it really adds to it

Nah man, this album art needs no color. I don't get green vibes from the sound here.

"The compact disc was initially available in three versions: one with a transparent purple jewel case with a translucent yellow-green spine, one with the color scheme reversed and a predominantly monochrome version. The purple jewel case is currently out of print and the yellow-green edition is now a rarity. On the predominantly monochrome cover, the dog has yellow eyes. "

Ooh interesting, I guess.

If I saw the purple version at a record store I would most certainly buy it just because

The line "endless corporate ignorance, lets me control time" is kinda biased, since it depends on your success that a record company let you do anything you want. Especially when Billy Corgan tried to release machina as a double album and the company told him "adore was a commercial failure, so we are not supporting you, fuck you".

Never understood that line. Strong point.

Basically the gist of it is that Layne was being cocky about the recording process which took a long time (April to August '95), it was a hard time for everyone in the band but especially Layne since he was caked in heroin at this point.

The line before that "Call me up congratulations ain't the real why" has to do with a couple of Columbia label execs calling up Layne at like 6 or 7am in the morning to congratulate him on his Mad Season album being certified gold, and then ending the conversation with "oh by the way, you have two weeks to finish the record"
