Yeah that song's solid along with the t/t but other than that the first half is filler, reminds me of Sunday of Life lol. But everything on the second half is either good or great so that pulls it up to around a 3.75 for me

Lightbulb Sun and In Absentia are a little overrated imo. LBS has a lot of very awesome moments but overall is a little less consistent than Stupid Dream. And IA has some truly awesome songs, but it kind of gets generic towards the end imo. Both are awesome, but don't like them as much as everyone seems to.

@Talons, if tomorrow's the day when you jam Signify and SD then it's gonna be a fucking awesome day. Both are at least 4.5s

As consistent as Stupid Dream is, however, I don't think the whole thing is anything amazing. Great, but none of the songs would make their top 10 for me. Maybe Even Less if I'm in a weird mood

Yeah, for sure Lightbulb Sun has more standout tracks, but songs like Four Chords, The Rest Will Flow and Where We Would Be, despite being great, don't really do anything for me. But yeah, Hatesong, Russia on Ice and Shesmovedon are better than most of SD. However, have you ever heard that 14-minute version of Even Less from the Recordings compilation? It's pretty damn awesome, up there with Arriving Somewhere imo

I have and I don't think it brings too much to the song. It's just more drawn out with a longer chorus and I think the original is fine as it is. However, it would explain why SW says "to even less" rather than "for even less" live

I could never understand all the love for IA. Sure, it has a lot of awesome songs but it goes anywhere for me. Between the

awesomely crafted catchiness of the previous two albums and the modern prog gems that are Deadwing and FoaBP, IA

doesn't offer anything really special for me. But imo it's still like a 3.5 or something

And yeah, Signify is a really underrated album, definitely top 3 PT for me

Almost every songs on IA is amazing though and it's so diverse. That might be my favorite

what really makes IA special for me is the concept / lyrics. i know sw's lyrics are much maligned here but they really do it for me. the overall package is so melancholy and full of regret and hope and sadness and all kinds of emotions. plus the whole murderer thing is really intriguing and plays on our fascination with serial killers and how weird that is and how weird they are and damn i should probably write a review for that album. so many thoughts

Yea Emyay I edited my rev for it, but I really wish I had written that now honestly :/

For IA it's all about this musicianship, concept, cold atmosphere, diversity. Just everything about it does it for me. I don't know why I seem to be one of the only 5s commenting on that thread considering there's lots of them haha

Cool dude, yea I wrote it as a 4.5 but there's things about it that really changed for me and I said NOTHING about .3 in it before which is my fav song by them by far haha. Tried to edit that without completely deleting the entire thing. It works but it's not perfect.

Come on Jamie, I know you hate the modern PT albums, but you have to agree songs like Arriving Somewhere and Start of Something Beautiful are some of the band's best. From what I seem to understand the thing you don't like is the alternative metal direction they've taken. But, Deadwing isn't even alternative at all. I may have gone a bit far saying FoaBP is a modern prog gem though
