I get that but there's few Martyr tracks that transcend; being that, The Human Face Divine, I Used To Hate Cellphones, Sometimes It's Our Mistakes, (can't forget)Pretty Soon, Memphis(such a classic), and Creating Something("Bringing A Gun To A KNIFE FIIIIIGHT)

"I don't get this at all Kman. They were just trying to write a fucking record. This was like their 5th album man, they were already trying to experiment more on Long Live. They just pulled out all the stops and let loose. Doesn't sound pretentious to me. And almost any time someone calls an album pretentious it just sounds stupid. Most artist are trying to do as well as their capable of. It's only when there's a feeling of self-importance or noticeable lack of honestly and humility that something will then sound pretentious, but then it probably won't be that good. You know some people think As The Roots Undo is pretentious, and you likely see it as just a really ambitious and simply awesome record. Pretentious is such a shit word, I hate it. "
As The Roots Undo *is* pretentious though. I love CTTS, but come on.

Maybe more ambitious than pretentious is how I feel about it. They probably did feel "oh shit we're creating something incredible" but honestly that probably came out in the creative process. I don't know how to feel about the 'Pretentious' argument, I'm just not about it. Those who I feel who are usually truly pretentious, fail.

It's pretty straightforward, tbh.

Honestly the best band I've ever seen live. Sad to see them go.

Are you sure you're being honest? You don't seem sincere.

Saw them after they lost their bass player, that dude was nuts, it was a let down, I hardly even remember it. Before that they seemed liked the craziest live band ever, honestly

Really cant wrap my head around why someone would think this is album is pretentious. It expands on long live beautifully, and has a unique sound for sure. I feel pretentious music tries to force a greater message on the listener that is actually there, and usually is pretty obvious. All the post production stuff adds creative value and doesn't come across as trying too hard. For gods sake speak was recorded live and is brilliant. I can't even think of any pretentious albums in the metalcore genre except for betraying the martyrs.
