According to one of the band members, he said the new material destroys the old material. I don't know what that means but its gotta be good right ?

Yea I guess your right. Every artist always thinks that their most recent work will always be better than their past.

You're always mentioning the demo in this thread so I finally checked it out. It's really weird to go back and listen to something like that retrospectively when this is so polished, y'know? I only listened to it once so I gotta give it some more listens but it's definitely interesting to hear the difference.

yea gotta rep it man heh. i mean, the production on the demo is stellar especially considering it's a demo. you can say it's pretty polished as well. for this type of music imo the more polished the better, provided it brings the best out of every instrument...which is where i think they completely dropped the ball on this.

I feel like this has more of an artificial sheen on it though is what I'm trying to say.

agreed...which i'm also not that big of a fan of. still a very enjoyable album. And Plague Flowers is the bomb as is Xenoflux

I'm kind of torn, because I initially thought that the artificially polished aesthetic fit their style perfectly, but I typically really dislike that kind of production.

I think I'd probably really be into the demo if I gave it a few proper listens, but I'm kind of worried about taking away from my appreciation of this album.

I still love this as a 4.5, the production doesn't mar it too much

The demo was amazing when it came out but this has the same songs with better production in my opinion. It's nice to listen to the demo though since it gives you that raw feel of something that is in the works.

the production is worse this time around. everything is mushed together but on the demo every instrument is crystal clear with a special focus on the bass and violin.

haven't heard the demo, didn't have a problem with the production on this though. I thought it was very well done

The violin is if anything, a bit too much. It's great and really adds to the music but it would be nice to see the guitars and drums have some time to show off.
