I have no problems with how the album is ordered, 'The Last Vigil' could have potentially worked anywhere on the album but it's supposed to be a bit of a wind-down song to say "you've made it through the storm, now chill bro..."

"for as skilled and mind bending as they are, have basically released the same album over and over again since 1995's Destroy Erase Improve,"

Highly disagree with this statement in my opinion each album they put out is a progression from their previous ones.Sure maybe the abrasive sound they put out is present on each of their albums but for me that's as far as the samey-samey feeling goes for me.I think when they first started out with their first three albums they used a faster tempo with their songs but from their albums from "Nothing' to present they have been experiment with a lot more sounds such as polyrhythms, slower tempos and incorporating more quiet parts (such as the interlude in "Bleed" and other songs).

I second what Sunn said. I had to read the review twice to fully appreciate that it was indeed well written. The first time I was just so thrown off that anyone would think they repeated themselves since 1995 when that is absolutely not the case at all.

They have yet to top "Bleed" as their best song. Gave this another listen today and it's just stale (but still good) compared to anything else they've released.

I prefer Koloss as a whole, but ObZen definitely has better individual tracks on it. Also, Wizard, I just so happen to be listening to Given To The Rising now, fantastic taste sir.

I've only heard this, obZen, and Destroy Erase Improve and I definitely like this the most out of the three.

Yea everyone jizzes over bleed for some reason. I guess cause of the fasr triplets and length that it goes on. Its a bitchin tune, but they have much better.

They're not triplets =p

Combustion is probably my favorite Meshuggah song though because it isn't six minutes of boring polyrhythms; it just riffs hard m/
