Well no, but the melodies are fantastic, the quieter moments really bring out the best qualities in the band and the overall build up is gorgeous

I disagree. It's decent though, don't get me wrong.

^^What Choccy said, plus the second half is perfect and epic with minimal cheese

The soundscape in a Razor's Edge followed by Petrucci's solo is one of my favorite moments by them. I like AVOS too, but it just doesn't reach those highs

Agreed. ACOS has plenty of highs and amazing moments as well, and like I've said, it's a close second for me. But imo Octavarium just does everything perfectly and builds to their best crescendoes and moments and solos
|
| |
A Change of Seasons' highs are just on a whole other level compared to the highs on Octavarium for me.

You two seem to be the only two users on this sight who prefer Octavarium.

"just does everything perfectly and builds to their best crescendoes and moments and solos"
this is exactly what i'd say about acos
|
| |
t/t is good but the last third or so of ACoS is magnificent and chill-inducing. Can't top that.

The last third alone of the t/t beats anything DT related

True. The first half is pretty stunning anyway; hard to fault the song

Hard to fault a song that's perfect and a band's best, especially with 12 albums and 100+ songs
