Metal in general is getting stagnant at this point man. I mean what else is there to do in the genre? Honestly the harsh truth is metal might be running out of ideas so Ill take any little thing thats different at this point.

I wouldn't say metal is getting stagnant at all. No offense, but if your saying that you need to venture into different metal sub-genres other then this. Not saying you haven't considering I've never seen any other of your ratings.

Did I say their the ONLY band that should do this? No. So quit your crying.

No, however it is very much so implied.

Also, I think Northlane is something special. Idc if it has been done before, maybe it has, and if so, not much so I don't care. And I wasn't crying obviously.

Anyway, Evil, tell me why this album only deserves a 2.

And yes, I did notice. And thank you for that. All the djent offspring vs Meshuggah is getting old

I found myself extremely bored with it after a couple listens. I feel like a lot of the songs sounded similar, some of the vocals were either not good or badly misplaced, plenty of production errors with the drums, and didn't feel like their was much of a connection with the album at all. Just my opinion, and I know many of you will differ.

@Shuyin also I believe Cult of Luna is releasing something as well. Listening to Salvation at the moment.

Fear I try and listen to every subgenre of music I can, especially metal. Ive taken a little bit from everything. I just dont know what else can really be done in metal. I mean really. Think about it. Every vocal style has been done. Every speed has been done. Extreme technicality and experimentation has been done. Fusions have been done. Im always on the lookout for something fresh but what else can really happen? Metal has been combined with almost every kind of music to me knowledge.

Oh, Shuyin I listened to Salvation a good amount of times just never rated it. Theirs at least 100-200 albums I listened to I still haven't rated yet.

About post-metal real quick, I tried it once, wasn't my taste. Although Intronaut is cool.

But about my question - hmmm. I think all the vox are pretty great. And well placed for the most part. Plus Adrians highs are some emotional. And about the connection to the album - I find that albums such as these may take up to 7-ish listens to really start getting it. And while some parts of songs sound a bit too similar, it doesn't bother me, and all the songs have great parts, IMO. And I don't know enough about production or drumming to see those errors, haha. So naturally, that doesn't bother me either.

I do like the the vocalist who does the lows (if it's the same guy). Also, I find Intronaut to be more sludge-metal if anything but they definitely have post-metal influences. Post-metal takes time to get into it really does. I use to hate Neurosis, Cult of Luna, and Isis but now love em all.

@fear, lazy ass

Hahaha yup

See, I kinda believe that there is always something new to do. All it takes is one person, just one, to do something different and change everything. Just our imagination is not nearly capable to imagine such things. It takes a fresh mind, one that hasn't been totally immersed into said genre.
