I like the design of that site and it has good info on bands. For reviews and discussions one should go to other sites, though.

^^^ design is great and the idea of having a huge online metal library is fantastic. Furthermore there are a couple of great albums that deservingly get love at Metal Archives that they don't get anywhere else (At the Gates' Red Sky or Katatonia's December Souls for instance). Definitely not all is bad. They're just extremely inconsistent in which band to include and which band not to include. I fail to see how some bands that are included pass "the test of trveness" while several others don't. Also, some of the users there are socially awkward dicks who happen to be extremely vocal over there.

No, metal-archives kind of fell off honestly. I used to only be on metal-archives since something like 2002ish on. Message boards here are infinitely better, and they have some strange fucking rules about who can and can't be on their website in terms of bands. Also, I've noticed a much slower income of reviews as of late. Sputnik ftw.

Legit though if you guys think Metal Archives is a breeding ground for "elitists", do NOT ever visit NWN! forums and ESPECIALLY NOT deathmetal.org
