I feel as if this album succeeds at creating an atmosphere far better than BC. With that album i was just like "yep. that's black metal. and it's dark." The atmosphere on this make me feel like im being teleported to a hazy forest or some shit.
and no, i won't deny that this is essentially Two Hunters Pt. 2 - same style, same atmosphere, etc. and i have no issues with that whatsoever. that's what i love about it.
Well, for me, pretty much every single song feels pretty much like it could've been cut down in length.
that's exactly how i feel about Diadem. (maybe not by "half", but about 5 minutes or so.)

The atmosphere on Black Cascade and this are completely different. I feel like they succeeded in the "trance-like" atmosphere they were trying to create on Black Cascade. Here I don't really feel anything in terms of atmosphere tbh.

i guess that's where we totally disagree. i think most people that liked this didn't like black cascade much, and vice versa. i absolutely adore the atmosphere on black cascade, perhaps more than two hunters. doesn't just feel 'dark' or 'black metal' to me. in fact in many ways it's not that black metal at all due to the production. but there we are. [:

Solid album. A welcome return to the more 'gazey and synth-based sound of Two Hunters while holding its own in a more to-the-point approach.
Diadem and Two Hunters are tied as their best for different qualities/reasons. Black Cascade while a good listen now and then, is easily their weakest. As mentioned before it has a tendency to mesh toghether; at its worst, the album is the epitome of drag.
