potential hot take: this album has not aged very well and i kinda understand why kendrick says he only has four albums

i don't even mean the beats either. kendrick's bars just feel so amateur to me, honestly straight up bad at points here... and his delivery just isn't there yet. dude took a huge jump in that department between this and gkmc

still like quite a few of these songs because nostalgia but i'm not sure any of these tracks belong in the same conversation as anything he did after

It's okay but I feel like his work afterwards was a huge leap in artistry. ADHD is the one song on here that really showed a flash of just how brilliant he can be though.

Some of it is more juvenile in content and less well thought out for sure, but idk it has some of my favorite Kendrick songs on it too.

hearing a track like poe mans dreams compared to one of the unhinged songs from the new album is incredibly jarring

It's definitely his worst work imho

But it has its moments. Sad that Kendrick doesn't acknowledge Overly Dedicated as one of his albums. It's so fucking good.

I still prolly have a few of those in storage somewhere….

that album had a grip on my middle school, same with a tale of two andres. Legendary stuff.
