I like how the wiki page for this album now links to the user review instead of Downer's

man i did not anticipate such a crusade. even the taking back sunday fangirls on wikipedia got involved
|
| |
i don't think it's so much a crusade as a couple kids with too much time on their hands and a penchant for alting. it pales in comparison to the backlash garnered by ponton's sum 41 review.

I won't go there again, but I've read other review unfavorable to this record besides this one - the
one from Spin. Even though I disagree with, it didn't seem the reviewer was enjoying to shit all over
the band while writing it. Not going there again and I'll respect SowingSeason's POV.

its tough to shit all over a band and give them a positive score
|
| |
you're not allowed to ENJOY it, though

Don't take pride in your ability to shit all over anyone

I feel like any rating between 1 and 2.5 is pretty arbitrary
dumb
|
| |
Album Rating: 1.5
why? once you've established it sucks why does it matter if it REALLY sucks or kinda sucks? anything below a 2.5 ill probably never listen to again anyway
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
i understand what you mean
but then again a 2.5 usually indicates that there are a few tracks worth keeping around. If I rate something a 1.5 then I am basically saying it's complete shit minus maybe this one part of a song...or something
|
| |
Album Rating: 1.5
yeah i guess i am basically saying that about this but i feel like theres no point to splitting hairs about degrees of suckage
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
yeah
it may be idealistic but sometimes i wish sputnik rated things the right way
like...you hear an album and you think its average, you rate it a 2.5.
inflation has almost made 3.5 the average; although I understand because people tend to listen to music they like more than music they don't like. and agreed about splitting hairs, it is relatively pointless to argue whether something is bad, awful, or terrible or whatever 1.0-2.0 means according to our system

You gave all these band's records the maximum score of 3, with one peaking 3.5. You clearly don't
like them. There're staff members among you that do enjoy them. Your fellow staff members - before I
joined here - were complaining how fast you went to review this. You replied saying something in the
lines "I started writing as soon as I listened for the first time, then keep listening and the
record still sucked". The record leaked on June, 22nd, your review is dated June, 23rd.
It's okay if you don't like the record. It's okay to make a review and saying basically "it sucks",
even if it sounds childish coming from a staff member. But don't pretend you like this band. Or
their records. You never did. Never will. If you could man up to admit that the best you could give
a TBS record is a "great" score, while pimping Brand New with 5s and 4.5s, people wouldn't complain.
You clearly don't have a good undertstanding about what this band is about or this record. It's all
good. But don't try to pass of as a fan of them. You're a Brand New fan. Shittin' on this band
because you can.
