"ridiculously consistent"

nah. as Hyperion said, the first three songs destroy the rest of the album. it's like Sepultura's Arise, first few songs are godlike, and the rest of them album is just...great.

btw @Hyperion: does your username come from the book Hyperion? I've just read it last week and it's like the best thing ever!

"as Hyperion said, the first three songs destroy the rest of the album."

The way you talk about this album makes me think you should have the rating lower.

That's not right because after the first 3 songs you got:

Supposed to Rot, Life Goes on, Bitter Loss, The Truth Beyond and Premature Autopsy. All the songs are just as good as the first 3.

nah, this is still a 4.5, it's just that LHP and Drowned are like 6/5 songs. the rest of the songs are great too, it's just that the songwriting isn't on the same level. but album is full of great riffs, the atmosphere is superb and that guitar tone is just legendary, so yea.. as much as I find the latter half of the album underwhelming, I still can't imagine rating it less than 4.5. I'd give it a 4.4 if I could haha.

I've always preferred clandestine over this, even though the vox on clandestine are a joke compared to these.

i thought the term stemmed from LaVeyan satanism? isn't it like the dichotomy in esotericism, referring to malicious and benevolent magic? i am actually pretty unsure on this though. been a while since I've done any occult research
