I certainly expected to like this but I wasn’t prepared for how atmospheric it was, I was expecting something a bit closer to like The Strokes or something but there are several spots here when they’re channeling some major dream pop/post-rock influence.

I don't think this album has anything in common with Joy Division other than the fact that the vocals do remind me of it from time to time and it is in the same genre generally. But the whole atmosphere/ guitar tone and layers of composition are far more different and colorful than the ones on JD's albums.

I think this is way more lush and warm than Joy Division, which is a big reason the comparison never really made sense to me. It's such a surface-level observation - reverby post-punk + baritone vocals.
Anyway this is the best.
