yeah it’s one of the most undeservedly hated death metal albums ever. I truly can never understand it.

That remaster sounds pretty nice. I dunno why I haven't got into this album more, I remember there being a bunch of weird non songs towards the end?

“Well now that can’t be music can it?”

there's multiple tracks of guitar soloing accompanied by weird silences, same with the drum solo track. Even if we ignore the bad mixing (which could be fixed), everything after track 12 should not be included (and that's only if you want those 2 ambient outros too). It really is bizarre that they honestly included all that random shit on the album, and then on top of that refused to mix it to sound l o f i . the whole thing feels either like a dramatic "Fuck you" to the label/fans or trey trying very hard to force a sense of "avant-garde" onto the music.

It may be good when listened standalone but when it came up on my Morbid Angel playlist after Gateways to Annihilation then... oh boy... it really sounds like shit. Some minimal mastering wouldn't hurt, like just setting the proper damn volume... I won't even go into guitars tone, drums or lack of low end because it's a matter of preference. Great that lo-fi/raw fans like it, but it obviously ruined good album for general public. Just a fact. I bet it sounds better live...
