I used to find Boxer depressing as hell, but now I find it rather uplifting in a really deep in the gut kind of way. Also, there are no weak tracks on this. It's perfect.

I like Vanderlyle, though I don't get the lyrics. "I'll explain everything to the geeks"? Anyone?

I've been trying to come up with reasons not to bump my rating for awhile, I might not be able to hold out much longer. This band is basically flawless.

If you hadn't noticed they aren't a band that writes conventional lyrics. Listen to Conversation 16;
'I was afraid that I'd eat your brains, cause I'm evil.'

I understand VCG and The National in general aren't "conventional"; I just wanted to know if there was a deeper meaning at all.

seriously though most of boxer and alligator is pretty easy to get except for the odd abstract line, this is a lot weirder lyrically. there are still a lot of very comprehensible images though.
