I know a guy who doesn't consider fade outs to be proper endings. Pretty lol but yeah that's probably why he sticks to Tool.

Fade outs were originally designed for jukeboxes because they give the impression that the song didn't really end and people would play it again.

I don't know anything about that story, emim, but Holst's 'Neptune" from The Planets' suite was the first piece to

implement a fade out I believe.



During performances, he had a chorus place in a room behind the stage and as the song came to a close, they would

continue singing while the door was slowly shut.

lol yazz flute, instead of that i just imagined a band playing the song while someone turns the live mix slowly all the way down. They're all still on stage going crazy and then it's just fucking quiet haha
