Being There is one of the best comedies ever.
Peter Sellars is a god of comedy :P

"Their late albums are only Wilco-lite if you're looking for every album to be another YHF or Summerteeth."
Their later albums have their own merits for sure. Though I was never going into Schmilco for instance hoping for or expecting another YHF or Summerteeth and still was bored.

Sky Blue Sky is dope. Not at all like YHF but it's awesome afternoon jams.

I just mean that at the end of the day Jeff Tweedy's still a great songwriter and the band have still got some seriously great chops and great chemistry. There's a sense of ease in the last 5 Wilco albums that relatively few modern bands match to my ears. I understand many see that as stagnation but all I hear is a band out there to make some music because they love doing it and not taking themselves too seriously.
To my ears they didn't arrive at the quintessential Wilco sound until their self-titled and they've been riding that excellently ever since.
Idk man. I just love these guys.

Yeah I can respect that they're making the music they enjoy making. They can do whatever they hell they want. They've earned it. Tweedy will always be a gifted songwriter in my eyes.

@Spec, agreed, Sky Blue Sky is a killer record
Have many people here heard the Tweedy double album from 2014? I think the first disc of that is about as good as Sky Blue Sky. "Nobody Dies Anymore" from that is one of Jeff's greatest songs ever imo.

One of these days I want to make an edit of "War on War" where the line "It's a war on war" is just repeated over and over from its first utterance until the end of the song, even as the music changes.
Also I was so wrong about "I'm the Man Who Loves You" when I started getting into this album a couple months ago, song is a hard jam

All I listen to is this and summerteeth. Is it worthwhile to delve into their other works?

Oh yes definitely, I find them more consistent than most do but A Ghost Is Born, Being There, and The Whole Love, and Sky Blue Sky are all well worth listening to.
Ghost is the best one to check after this and Summerteeth so start there.
