If you’re that morbidly curious I would honestly just check out Operation Mindcrime 2 just for a taste, and from my memory at least its their most adventurous record after Promised Land. They at least try to return to what made that record great, but obv they’re like 20 years older so it just feels cynical.
But honestly man I haven’t listened to most of them in like a decade, and if I thought they were trash when I was 17 I can only imagine how bad they are now.

Might get there. This is a powerful album. Now that I'm getting older I'm really appreciating the classic heavy metal sound more than I did when I was a teenager and even my 20s.

I understand completely, I’ve been on a similar binge lately with some bands I love like Maiden, Sabbath, Fates Warning etc. I’m supposed to be listening to some black metal albums for a list I’m working on but yall keep distracting me with these bumps lol
