Tight review. Good job. I definately agree with you. I only just recently bought this album and it is my first Metallica album. I've always been a Slayer thrash guy, but I think that Metallica is way more melodic and the sound is much more focused. Master of Puppets lives on.

Actually the worst track on this album is The Thing That Should Not Be, and not DH (awesome), Leper Messiah (godly), or DI (thrash metal headbangfest.)

I disagree, but in attempt to avoid another 2 page argument I'll just throw a completely meaningless cliche out there. "To each him own".

Anyways, Orion has been growing on me a lot lately. I think it might be the best song on the album except Battery. Discuss. This Message Edited On 09.17.06

Avenged Sevenfold > Every song sounding the same.

So, you think MOP and Sanitarium sound the same?

I haven't listened in a while.

But let me put it this way.

Avenged Sevenfold = Unique songwriting/songstructure, above average drumming,
incredibly talented guitarists, average bassist, and very powerful singer.

Metallica = Unique at the time, riffs sound very samey, some good guitar leads, but it's
mostly nothing to challenging, horrid drumming, and just flat out terrible vocals, and
Cliff was a bit above average , but nothing to amazing. This Message Edited On 09.17.06

Alright. Anyways, I can see where you're coming from when you say they all sound the same. IMO you're just wrong, though. A lot of the songs are played the same octaves so they have similar atmospheres, but it's easy to tell the difference between the riffs.

Wow. Great review dude. You went very in depth in the song descriptions. I feel like a complete dolt for not owning this album.

You can make any band sound better than another when you exagerate.

Unfortunately it is. You didn't exagerate a whole lot, but you definitely did. The vocals are really not that powerful, there not weak either, but not powerful. For some real powerful vocals listen to old Iron Maiden. The guitarists are good, but there are plently who are better. I suppose the song writing isn't exactly routine, but it doesn't seem all that unique to me.

I could argue that you underexagerated when reffering to Metallica, but I won't.

Anyways, my intent here is not to start a huge argument or anything. I just plain don't like Avenged.

This singer in A7X now sounds like a weak little rodent (today at least). Powerful? His singing is among the most forced i've ever heard. Today's Hetfield could take him.

A7X bassist = VERY BAD BASSIST

Cliff = Pretty good, nowhere near the best, but unique

Using Hetfield as an example was probably the worst idea ever, he's completely fucked his voice.

I've got to say that I would rather take Hetfield's singing than the singer from A7X.

I still say that this is an enjoyable listen. I don't mind if they have "no talent." As long as it is fun to listen to, I like.
