Classical composition is something that comes to my mind. I might be wrong, but that's my guess. It's definitely not black metal though.

I guess melancholic atmosphere, Mike's vocals and some tremolo riffing can remind you of black metal sometimes, but there really isn't much of its influences here.
I don't know what you guys mean when you say "classical", it's just progressive. although some of the leads and melodies have that (neo)classical feel, true.
