I'd rather listen to this than Opeth 90% of the time.

This is a really good album. I can hear the similarities to Opeth, especially in the growl, but not the cleans. In fact I think it's his clean voice which throws me off a little. This sounds alot different but it's still kicks sphinct. By Others Considered rules.

1:28 through 2:39 of that song is one of my favorite music moments of all time.

basically.

This is still better than Monolith. Grind Denial deserves more attention though, it's my second favorite behind the Black Lodge.

Grind Denial is awesome to drum to. Best chorus on the album I think, ahead of In the Failing Hour even.

You drum Yazz? I'm a drummer in a local Metal band.

I've been drumming to TBL recently. I used to occasionally, then stopped. But it's fun.

^ I'd have to agree. They really capture some good atmosphere on this album. Like I mentioned I'm not too big on his cleans.

Monolith is good too, I don't quite get the neutrality or whatever about it. It might not be as good as this, but it has some really good moments.

That I am.

Monolith is good but it lacks the charm that this has. "For You to Know" is the only song that really has that intangible quality found here in my opinion (wish I could describe it better). Plus the middle section (tracks 5-7) is unspectacular. The first three songs and Revisiting the Black Lodge have some moments though.

Not a big fan of monoliths but anyone that likes this should look into the new Iron Thrones album. It shares some similarities with this style of prog death
