@Dylan: yeah, and it was an album that meant a lot to me at the time too so everything just kinda felt icky after all that happened. you're right that I couldn't have known and I should offer myself grace. the guilt is something that creeps up every now and again but we all mess up sometimes. selling the CD did help.

gia, i have never seen that term used outside of twitter/4chan losers trying to integrate their twisted mindsets with our community (and it prob convinced a lot of people with the way the attitude toward us became in this country), it always read as a sanitized term to downplay just how messed up they are. most of them had more interest in trying to integrate with us than actually getting help and the amount of glorifying that behavior i saw made me wanna vomit

Imperial Triumphant is incredible and they have a new one due out in March. Hoplites is also excellent. I’d recommend Blut Aus Nord. They’re not exactly similar to DsO, but they have a similar avant-bm vibe and an incredible discog to get lost in.

Lol apparently Blut Aus Nord is the first band in similar artists so maybe they’re more similar than I realize. They have a large range of sound across their like 30 years of music so some eras are an apt comparison

Imperial Triumphant is fucking killer, Alphaville and Vile Luxury are amazing, rest of their records are good but those two are the shit.
Aside from the “avant garde black metal” tags none of these bands sound similar lol
