Um not rly, the red chord is more unpredictable and experimental, while these guys are formulaic. Some chugs are cool, but I'd listen to an average melodic death metal band over this anyday

nah, static2dope sounds familiar, I think he's not that new
he wasn't serious anyways, obviously
back to this album: it's the only deathcore album I really really like!
just gets a little too repetitive after the first half IMO. anyone knows better deathcore albums?

Deathcore isn't a favorite genre of mine either, you and I are on the same boat with this album haha

I dunno about better and dunno how loose can the genre be for you to like it, but I like "Fed through the teeth machine" by The Red Chord, "Desperate Man's Diary" by Glass Casket or "Desolation" by Burning Skies. That one's more of literal deathcore, like in hardcore punk mixed with death metal, so it has no breakdowns.
Of course all the prog deathcore is fantastic too, "Exoplanet" by The Contortionist or "The Discovery" by Born of Osiris

the "no breakdowns" is something I'm always down for haha

Well yeah, I wrote a review for that album, you can look it up. But The Red Chord doesn't have a lot of breakdowns either. The Acacia Strain has plenty, but it's actually more like their whole songs are breakdowns, so I don't mind it in their case

Yea to me the whole breakdown for a song just gets boring to me really fast I need riffs haha

let's see: that The Red Chord album is really brutal, but not too interesting to me. and Exoplanet is great, but still not my thing really. haven't heard others..
I think I will check out Glass Casket next, I've heard good things about them, thanks

and I don't mind a good breakdown now and then, but yea some bands overuse them and ruin the songs that way. then again, this album has soooooo much breakdowns, but most of them are so fucking good haha

Yeah I enjoy a good breakdown but other than that most breakdowns to me feel like been there done that

Actually I listened to a technical death metal radio yesterday and found an awesome band called Anomalous. Two of their songs feature amazing breakdowns that put most deathcore bands to shame. Check out on youtube. The songs are called "Demiurge" and "Binary Resurrection".
Fuckin sick.
